Very clean space and kind professional staff. However, it seems the backend is very much all over the place. My insurance is in-network yet I find myself paying ridiculous out of pocket fees. Also, got my Invisalign treatment and before I started I was given a price (in which I had to pay to even start the treatment) only to be told a completely different price after I had already been fitted and given my trays. When I called the office to get more information as to why, they notified me that the person who initially submitted the information really messed up and that they would be writing off the extra I was told. While I really appreciated that and the professionalism, the situations did leave a slight bad taste for me.

If I were you, I would save myself the headache of going to dntl bar and find another dentist. (1) As plenty of other patients have mentioned, this place has deceptive insurance practices. My insurance allocates money towards orthodontics, but more than once during my Invisalign treatment dntl bar wanted to make me believe I needed to pay the list price for services, which required me to make a lot of phone calls and gather additional paperwork to get proper coverage. This is not the industry standard, dntl bay should be in communication with insurance companies instead of making patients do all of the leg work. (2) Dntl bar experienced a lot of organizational changes which negatively impacted my quality of care in 2023. Aside from the fact that they went through an acquisition and were closed for almost 2 months without communicating any of this to patients, I had 4 different dentists managing my Invisalign care, which led to results which did not result in my desired outcomes. I had to do hours of patient advocacy before they accepted that my desired outcomes could be achieved with further treatment, but I was also told that further treatment wouldn’t be covered my insurance—which was false. Rather than continue with the unnecessary back and forth with dntl bar, I decided to find a more honest dentist.

Worst dental practice in NYC. Highly recommend staying away. Charged for procedures I never had and made to chase them down just to get answers. I literally asked them not to do x-Rays, which I didn’t recieve yet they charged me for them and sent a claim to my insurance. As the person below stated, they will bill your insurance for procedures not done! Best thing yet is that I can’t even cash my insurance claim check because they submitted it incorrectly. Still without refund due to their lack of competency. Not walked through the itemized list of procedures they were billing for and they deceitfully declined to reveal they were no longer in network due to their “change of management” even though they had been in the past. Go literally anywhere else but here.

As a freelancer in the city, with no health insurance, I was excited at the prospect of being able to go somewhere casually for dental healthcare. Upon my first visit, they tried to tell me that I had five cavities that needed filling, and the bill would’ve been upwards of $2000. As I’ve never had a cavity in my entire life, and was shocked and terrified, I decided to go to my childhood dentist for a second opinion. He let me know I had absolutely no cavities and nothing that needed filling. This place is a scam and they’re going to try to pull one over on you.

If you have a choice between going here or never going to the dentist again, it's better to just let all your teeth rot. I've never written a review for anything before, but if I can help even one person avoid this scam operation, then I'm satisfied with that. The office dropped all insurance plans but never expressed this in any capacity, instead promising that they "work with insurance" for "full reimbursement" before hustling me in for a cleaning. Of course, this wasn't true and I was left with a fat bill for out-of-network services, which they pleaded ignorance on claiming they didn't understand our insurance's terms and had no way of knowing we wouldn't actually be reimbursed. My partner was also charged several hundred dollars for x-rays that they didn't get and has spent weeks fighting with them for reimbursement. The whole operation is a bunch of slimy crooks hiding behind the cheap facade of a trendy spa, but please don't fall for these grubby money-hungry leeches. Most of their offices have already closed down. I can only pray by the time anyone reads this that their final location has gone under already. Also don't believe a word of whatever sympathetic, faux-helpful nonsense the owner spouts in reply to this - they won't do a thing to help you because they are not on your side.

Usually with medical emergencies, I try to have understanding when my appointment needs to be rescheduled. This is what happened the first time after I sat in the waiting room for 45 and was notified that I’d have to be rescheduled because of another patient with a complication. However, today I went in for my scheduled cleaning. It was booked online several weeks ago. This week I received a confirmation email for my appointment. When I arrived, front desk staff informed me that I was accidentally double-booked and they tried to reach out to me (by calling a number that was not my number, and decided to just give up and not even send me an email). There was no effort made to fit me in. Their lunch breaks were obviously more important than the hour commute I wasted in my busy schedule to make my scheduled appointment. The scheduling department and management of this practice is totally disorganized and unreliable; I assume this is why the many other DntlBar locations have shut down in the past year and I won’t be surprised if this one does too in the near future.

I’ve been coming to this location for about 2 years and as always, it was a great experience. They are under new management now, but they still provided the same great care yesterday as they have every other time. The newer reviews mention insurance being an issue so I made sure to figure that out ahead of time. The office explained that my delta dental was out of network and I’d need to pay up front since my insurance would reimburse me instead of them. I called my insurance to confirm and delta dental said they were correct and they would pay me directly instead of paying the office. It boils down to knowing your insurance and calling them before hand to avoid issues.

Loved this place. I needed an emergency molar extraction before labor day on a Friday afternoon, and these guys were more than happy to do it. The receptionists were amazing. The dental hygienist, Emilio, was more than stellar and was very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Sammie Jo Fat (her real name) was also amazing. She was extremely patient and accommodating. I paid out of pocket and well worth it. I'm now on the mend with no more tooth pain. For everyone out there complaining about insurance. They don't take DMO insurance. Technically they don't take PPO insurance either, BUT their insurance checker will tell you if your PPO insurance will REIMBURSE you after you pay out of pocket. Learn to read, people. It's a fine establishment with quality staff. I highly recommend.
